ONDO CITY TOURISM

Ondo or Ode Ondo has a population of over 500,000 people. It is the second largest city in Ondo, the state and named after it in the southwestern region of Nigeria. It is a popular tourist destination for people visiting the state. It is mostly known as Nigeria’s biggest producer of cocoa, with rich culture and great historical background.

The paramount and traditional ruler Oba Adesumbo victor kiladejo is a descendant of Oodua, the founding king of Yoruba kingdom. Getting to Ondo city is relatively easy as the Akure domestic airport which is about 30 minutes to Ondo offers flights from Lagos, Abuja and some other major cities across the country. It also has a good road network if tourists are to travel by road.

NIBANOLA MOTHERLANDS

NIBANOLA MOTHERLANDS sits on over 35 Hectares of land and hills in Igbado, Ondo, about 10mins away from the Ondo metropolis. It was founded by DR, Jibayo Adeyeye with the aim of giving tourists a dream experience. The destination is surrounded by heights and mountains which is guaranteed to give you a double-take on your first visit and also rests in a natural forest-like environment with a cozy atmosphere which makes it is a perfect place for tourists to clear their minds.

Nibanola boasts of spectacular designs and features. The beautiful scenery and mind-blowing views of the destination makes it a choice of place for the revelers, family on re-union, honeymoons or Holiday group.

AWOSIKA FAMILY MUSEUM AND HALL OF FAME

The Awosika family house which is located at the round-about in Odotu street Ondo City Nigeria and recognized as the main Awosika family house in Ondo where the first Awosika -High Chief Sasere Ayotilerewa Awosika who died on 9th April 1909 at the ripe age of 90 lived with his family consisting of wives and children. “As recorded in the Book of Families in the Library of Congress of the United States of America, the family from Ondo City, Nigeria, is one of the largest families in Nigeria and Africa.

The building has been in existence for over 160years ago as at 2019 (Carbon 14 dating). It was originally built with mud and has been structurally restored through contributions from Awosika family members and friends and named AWOSIKA FAMILY MUSEUM AND HALL OF FAME. The restoration was professionally done to ensure stability of the building while keeping the spaces intact as well as providing modern lighting,  conveniences and ventilation.

  • Awosika Mausoleum

AWOSIKA GALLERY

This gallery houses historic photographs, sculptures, memories, and artifacts of High Chief Sasere Ayotilerewa Awosika, his direct children, and his brother, High Chief Sasere Akinbuli.

This gallery also contains the pillar of Religion which exhibits pictures and memories of Awosika family members who first pioneered and established four religions, namely, Anglican (CMS), Islam, Cherubim and Seraphim, and Celestial Church of Christ in Ondo Kingdom.

AWOSIKA HALL OF FAME

The Awosika hall of fame exhibits inductees of Awosika descendants who have made recognizable achievements in all spheres of life. The Hall of Fame enshrines the inductees with historical pictures, sculptures, plaques, displays of memorabilia, historical records or the physical primary documents that have been accumulated over the course of the lifetime of the inductees. The Hall of fame also enshrines notable Ondo indigenes that have contributed in no small means to the progress of Ondo Kingdom.

EKIMOGUN GALLERY
The Ekimogun Gallery consists of displays of Ondo history, Customs, traditional festivals, past and present Osemawe Paramount ruler of Ondo Kingdom, other notable High-Chiefs, Chiefs and notable Ondo Indigenes.

AWOSIKA MAUSOLEUM
The Awosika Mausoleum is located just before the Odotu roundabout coming from Igunrin Street. This Mausoleum is the burial site of High Chief Ayotilerewa Awosika, his brother High Chief Sasere Akinbuli, and Ayotilerewa’s first son, High Chief Sasere Akinrinlola Awosika. The Mausoleum has also been restored to befit and preserve the history of the Awosika family progenitors.
